Hailuo AI is a web app that creates videos and images with AI from text or photos, and Hailuo is also the name of a line of video generation models from MiniMax. MiniMax, founded in early 2022, builds multimodal foundation models: large neural networks that understand and generate text, audio, images, video and music. A video generation model produces a short clip from a text description or from images.
In the app a user writes a prompt or uploads a photo to make a clip; the newest model there is MiniMax H3, which accepts images, video and audio as references. Developers use the models through the MiniMax API. Generation is asynchronous: a program creates a task, polls its status with the task ID and downloads the finished video from a returned URL. Modes include text-to-video, image-to-video from a first or last frame, and generation from reference images, videos or audio. The API price list now shows MiniMax-Hailuo-2.3, Hailuo-2.3-Fast and Hailuo-02 as legacy models, with clips at 512P to 1080P.
The app sells subscriptions; the API is billed per generated video, by model, resolution and length.
