Tripo, from Tripo AI by VAST, generates 3D models with AI. A user types a text prompt or uploads a photo, sketch or concept art, and the model produces a textured 3D model, a mesh of polygons with surface images, that can be downloaded and used at once.
Tripo Studio runs in the browser. It makes two kinds of geometry: High Detail models with up to 2 million polygons, for rendering, effects and 3D printing, and Smart Mesh quad meshes of 500 to 25,000 polygons for game engines. A quad mesh is built from four-sided faces, which animators and game engines handle well. Other tools create PBR texture sets up to 8K (physically based rendering maps: albedo, normal, metallic and roughness), split a model into parts, and rig characters with a skeleton for animation. Exports include GLB, FBX, OBJ and USD, and STL for 3D printers.
Tripo Studio has a free plan with monthly credits for public, non-commercial models, and paid subscriptions with more credits, private models and commercial use. An API is offered to developers.
