Recraft is an AI image generation company and design tool for designers, illustrators and marketers. It trains its own text-to-image models, which turn a written description (a prompt) into an image, and offers them in its design app, Recraft Studio, and through an API. Recraft was founded in the US in 2022 and is headquartered in London.
Recraft V3, released in October 2024, generates raster images and, as a second model, vector images (graphics described by shapes instead of pixels, so that they scale without loss). It renders text inside images, can place text at given positions, and keeps a consistent style from a few example images without retraining. An Artistic level parameter moves results from standard images to less conventional compositions. Newer models, V4 and V4.1, are also offered. Recraft Studio adds an infinite canvas for real-time collaboration and editing tools such as background removal, upscaling and vectorizing.
Recraft Studio is sold as subscriptions with monthly credits, and a Free plan exists for public, non-commercial images. The API is billed per request in prepaid API units.
