Cua Driver

An open-source computer-use driver: it lets AI agents such as Claude Code click, type and read in desktop apps on the user's own computer, in the background.

What Cua Driver is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Cua Driver is an open-source computer-use driver from Cua AI, Inc. Computer use means that an AI agent operates a computer the way a person does, by clicking, typing and scrolling in apps. Cua Driver gives agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor this ability on the user's own Mac, Windows or Linux computer.

The agent works in the background, in windows behind the user's windows and with a cursor of its own, so the user keeps the mouse and keyboard and can watch what the agent does. Cua Driver reads each operating system's accessibility tree, the structured description of buttons, fields and text that the system provides for screen readers, so agents can work in native apps such as spreadsheets and settings as well as in web pages. Agents connect through MCP (Model Context Protocol, a standard way for AI agents to call tools) or the command line, and an SDK lets programs use it. It also runs inside Cua Spaces, Cua's shared desktops for teams and agents.

Cua Driver is free and open source under the MIT license.
