StackCommerce is a commerce platform for publishers and brands. It started in Venice, California, in 2011 as a flash sale site for tech deals. It now connects media outlets, independent publishers, content creators, retailers and brands. It is backed by TPG and has bought BrandCycle, The Fascination and Reviewed.
A brand with a digital or physical product lists it in the StackCommerce marketplace. The product then appears on StackSocial.com and in white-labeled shops: stores that carry a publisher's own brand but are run by StackCommerce. It can also be featured in marketing email, SMS, web push messages, newsletters and commerce content (articles written to sell a product) on partner sites. Sales use a dropship model: the seller ships each order straight to the buyer, so the brand has no inventory risk. BrandCycle matches brands with vetted influencers, and affiliates can also find the products through StackCommerce's Impact integration.
Publishers and creators earn commissions on the sales they bring. Brands buy flat-fee packages or performance campaigns paid per page view, click or conversion; the site publishes no fixed price.
