Whop

A platform for selling courses, memberships, communities and software online: Whop runs the checkout, billing and access checks, and takes a fee on each payment.

What Whop is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Whop is a commerce platform from Whop Inc. for people who sell online: courses, coaching, newsletters, paid communities, events, software and physical products. A seller creates a whop (a store with its own URL), adds products with prices, and Whop handles checkout, billing and subscription management.

Each purchase becomes a membership. For software sold on Whop, the seller's server asks the Whop API whether a user has access right now (the users.checkAccess call) before it serves paid features, or it validates a license key issued with each purchase. Developers work with the API, SDKs for TypeScript and Python, embeddable checkout elements and a command line tool (CLI). Whop also offers ads, payouts, cards and affiliate programs for sellers.

Whop charges a fee on each payment: a percentage plus a fixed amount for each card transaction, with separate fees for financing, payouts and disputes.
