Apple Podcasts

Apple's podcast app and directory, where listeners find, follow and play millions of shows and creators publish their shows from an RSS feed.

What Apple Podcasts is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Apple Podcasts is Apple's podcast app and catalog. It is installed on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro, works in CarPlay and on the web at podcasts.apple.com, and lists millions of shows from large publishers and independent creators. Editors curate collections, Top Charts show the most popular shows and episodes, and recommendations follow each listener's interests. Episodes can be audio or video, with transcripts and offline downloads.

A show reaches Apple Podcasts as an RSS feed, an XML file at a public address that lists the episodes and the location of each audio or video file. The feed can be generated and hosted by the creator or issued by a hosting provider, and it must follow the RSS 2.0 specification and Apple's technical requirements. The creator submits the feed through an Apple Podcasts Connect account. Creators also get analytics and can sell paid subscriptions with ad-free listening and bonus content.

Listening to most shows is free. Paid subscriptions are monthly or annual, and the creator receives 70 percent of the fee, rising to 85 percent after a subscriber has paid for one year.
