Google Cloud

A cloud computing platform: a business rents Google's servers, storage and databases over the internet to run its software, and pays for the amount it uses.

What Google Cloud is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 13 October 2026.

Google Cloud is the cloud computing platform of Google: a business rents computing services that run in Google's data centers and uses them over the internet. It lists more than 150 products. The data centers are grouped into regions in Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, North America and South America, and each region is divided into zones.

Compute Engine runs virtual machines, with optional GPUs and Cloud TPUs (chips for machine learning). Google Kubernetes Engine and Cloud Run deploy and scale containers. Cloud Storage is object storage for unstructured data: files are kept as objects in buckets, in any amount, with cheaper storage classes (nearline, coldline, archive) for data that is rarely read. Cloud SQL runs managed MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQL Server databases. For AI, a managed platform offers more than 200 foundation models, among them Google's Gemini models.

Google Cloud is pay per use, with a separate price list for each service. New customers get a free credit, and more than 20 products have a free usage tier.
