Better Stack

An observability platform: it checks that a website or API is up, collects logs and metrics, alerts the on-call engineer, and hosts a public status page.

What Better Stack is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Better Stack, made by Better Stack, Inc., is an observability platform: a set of services that collect signals from running software (logs, metrics, traces, errors) so that engineers can see when it fails and why. It also does uptime monitoring, which means its servers request a web page, an API or another network service from several places in the world, as often as every 30 seconds, and record each failure with a screenshot.

A status page is a public web page that tells customers whether a service works and lists incidents and planned maintenance. Better Stack hosts it on the customer's own subdomain, such as status.example.com, after one CNAME record (a DNS entry that points the name to Better Stack) is set. Visitors can subscribe to e-mail updates, and the page can be private behind a password, single sign-on or an IP allowlist. Incidents can update it automatically from the monitors.

Better Stack is a hosted service. A free plan covers personal projects; paid plans are a monthly fee per responder license plus usage-based bundles for telemetry data.
