Cloudflare Images

Cloudflare's image service: it stores images, resizes and converts them on request, and delivers the right format and size from Cloudflare's global network.

What Cloudflare Images is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Cloudflare Images is an image storage, optimization and delivery service from Cloudflare, Inc. Optimization here means changing an image's size, format and quality so that it loads fast on each device. Images runs on Cloudflare's CDN (content delivery network: servers around the world that serve copies of files near the visitor).

There are two ways to use it. With hosted images, a developer uploads originals through the Images API, by URL, in batches, from S3 or from a Worker; Cloudflare stores them and serves them from imagedelivery.net addresses, with predefined variants such as a 100x100 thumbnail, or flexible variants set in the URL. With remote images, Cloudflare transforms images that stay on another origin, such as R2 storage. In both cases the edge network picks a format the browser supports, such as WebP or AVIF, and a size that fits the device. Workers can also draw overlays and watermarks.

Images is a hosted service with a free plan for transformations and a paid plan billed by use: per unique transformation, per stored image and per delivered image.
