Daytona

A cloud service that creates isolated sandboxes on demand, in which AI agents and programs run untrusted or AI-generated code without touching the host systems.

What Daytona is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Daytona is a sandbox platform for running AI-generated code, made by Daytona Platforms Inc. A sandbox here is an isolated computer with its own kernel, file system, network stack and allotted vCPU, memory and disk, so code inside it cannot reach the host or other users.

A program uses Daytona's SDK (Python, TypeScript, Ruby, Go or Java) to create a sandbox, run code and shell commands in it with streamed output, manage its files, run Git operations and use a built-in language server, and then delete it. A sandbox starts in under 90 milliseconds from the create call, is compatible with OCI and Docker images, and can keep its state between runs. Sandboxes can also run Linux, macOS and Windows desktops for computer-use agents.

Daytona is a hosted service with usage-based pricing for vCPU, memory, storage and GPUs, billed per second. Its earlier open-source repository stopped receiving updates in June 2026, when core development moved to a private codebase.
