Future Tools

A curated directory of AI tools with a news feed and newsletter, where makers submit a tool for free and editors decide whether to list it.

What Future Tools is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Future Tools is a curated directory of AI tools combined with an AI news site and a newsletter, run by the creator Matt Wolfe. It began in late 2022 as his personal spreadsheet of AI tools and grew into a website with thousands of tools added by hand.

Visitors browse the full tool database, see a list of newly added tools, and read a Top 20 list that Matt Wolfe picks and updates each month. A tool maker fills in a form with the tool's name, URL, short description, category and pricing type (free, freemium, paid or open source). People on the team review each submission by hand, and more than 75% are not approved, for example tools that are only a waitlist, custom GPTs, or ideas already listed many times. The site also runs a curated AI news feed and a newsletter that more than 250,000 people read twice a week.

Listing and browsing are free. The site earns money from affiliate links, labeled on the tool pages, and from one or two paid sponsors in each newsletter issue.
