LinkedIn API

LinkedIn's set of web APIs: with a member's permission, another application can publish posts on LinkedIn for that member and read the posts' statistics.

What LinkedIn API is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

The LinkedIn API is the set of web APIs (interfaces that another program calls over the internet) that LinkedIn Corporation offers so that other software can work with LinkedIn. The documentation is organized by business line: Consumer, Compliance, Learning, Marketing, Sales and Talent.

Access uses OAuth 2.0, a standard in which a member signs in on LinkedIn and gives an application a limited access token instead of a password. With the w_member_social permission, which any developer can add through the Share on LinkedIn product, an application creates posts with text, links and images on behalf of the member. The Posts API creates and retrieves organic and sponsored posts for members and organizations, and the memberCreatorPostAnalytics API returns statistics such as impressions, members reached, reshares and reactions for a member's posts. Most other permissions need explicit approval from LinkedIn.

A developer creates an app in the LinkedIn Developer Portal and adds products to it. The downloaded pages state no price.
