Mintlify

A hosted documentation platform: a company writes its product docs as files in a Git repository or a web editor, and Mintlify builds and serves the docs site.

What Mintlify is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Mintlify is a hosted documentation platform: a company writes its product documentation there, and Mintlify builds, hosts and serves the documentation website. It uses a docs-as-code approach: every page is a file, such as an MDX file (Markdown with components), in a Git repository. Changes made locally or in the browser-based web editor sync to that repository, and the GitHub App deploys them automatically.

Writers preview pages on their own computer with the mint command-line tool, which needs Node.js. Sites get search, an API playground, ready-made components, a custom domain and authentication. For AI agents, Mintlify automatically hosts an llms.txt file, a Markdown index of all pages that helps large language models (LLMs) find content, plus a fuller llms-full.txt file and an MCP server (Model Context Protocol, a standard way for AI agents to call tools). Paid plans add an AI assistant that answers readers' questions from the docs, a writing agent, and automations that update pages.

Mintlify is sold as a subscription: a free Starter plan, a paid Pro plan, and Enterprise on request. AI features use credits.
