NVIDIA GPUs are graphics processing units made by NVIDIA Corporation. A GPU is a processor with many small cores that work in parallel; it was designed for 3D graphics, and the same parallel design makes it fast at the matrix arithmetic of neural networks. NVIDIA sells its consumer GPUs as GeForce graphics cards for desktop PCs and as chips in laptops. The current line is the GeForce RTX 50 Series (RTX 5090, 5080, 5070, 5060 and 5050); the RTX 40 Series came before it.
RTX 50 Series cards have fifth-generation Tensor Cores, units built for AI arithmetic that support the FP4 number format, and fourth-generation ray tracing cores for realistic lighting. NVIDIA promotes the cards for running AI models locally on a Windows PC: language models, image and video generation (for example ComfyUI workflows) and AI video effects in the NVIDIA Broadcast app.
The cards are hardware, sold through NVIDIA and partner retailers. The downloaded NVIDIA pages list buying options but show no prices.
