Roblox Studio is the development environment from Roblox Corporation for games (called experiences) on Roblox: a free desktop application for Windows and Mac that bundles the Roblox engine, the software that renders and simulates each game. Games made in it are published to Roblox users on consoles, desktop computers and mobile devices.
A creator builds a 3D world by dragging objects into a workspace and placing, rotating and texturing them, and adds behavior with scripts in Luau, a programming language derived from Lua 5.1 with optional types. The script editor has syntax highlighting and code completion. Playtesting emulates many screen sizes and devices before release. Teams can build and script together in real time. An AI Assistant can answer questions, add objects and edit scripts. Plugins are extensions that add features to Studio; creators install them from the Creator Store or write their own, and can give them away or sell them.
Studio is free to download and use with a Roblox account; the documentation shows no price for the application itself.
