Windsurf

An AI code editor, now named Devin Desktop, in which AI agents write, change and test code in a project while the developer reviews the work.

What Windsurf is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Windsurf is an AI code editor: an IDE (integrated development environment, the program in which a developer writes, runs and debugs code) with AI agents built in. Its maker, Cognition, has renamed it Devin Desktop; only the name and branding changed, and existing plans, prices, extensions and settings carry over.

The editor runs on macOS, Windows and Linux and can import settings from VS Code or Cursor. A developer decides what to build, and agents write the code and test it; Fast Context finds the files and lines an agent needs. Tab completion predicts the next edit. The Agent Command Center manages many agents in one place, in a Kanban view, running on the local machine or in Devin Cloud with the same context. Through the Agent Client Protocol (ACP) other agents and many frontier models can be used. Devin Review checks each diff, and MCP servers, memories and rules extend the agent. A Windsurf plugin for JetBrains IDEs is still available.

It is a desktop app with a free plan, monthly subscriptions (Pro, Max and Teams) and Enterprise contracts.
