CapCut

A video and photo editor for desktop, phone and web browser, with templates and AI tools for making short videos for social media.

What CapCut is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

CapCut is a video and photo editing app made for content on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and similar platforms. It runs as a desktop program (CapCut Desktop), a mobile app, a tablet app (CapCut Pad) and an editor in the web browser (CapCut Online).

The editor does the usual timeline work: it cuts and trims clips, adds transitions and exports HD video. Many steps use AI models. Auto captions turn the speech in a video into subtitles in several languages, text-to-speech reads a script aloud with synthetic voices, and background removal cuts the person or object out of a video or photo. Generators turn a text prompt, images or keyframes into new video clips or pictures. Ready-made templates give the layout, effects and timing for common formats such as social posts and holiday videos.

A free plan includes basic tools and free templates. Paid plans (Pro, Ultra and Teams) are monthly or yearly subscriptions that add premium templates, cloud storage and a monthly amount of AI credits.
