Chargebee

A subscription billing platform: it charges customers by plan, usage or credits, sends invoices, collects payments through many gateways and records the revenue for a business.

What Chargebee is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Chargebee is a billing and revenue platform for subscription businesses, made by Chargebee. Billing here means the system that turns a price plan into invoices and payments. It supports tiered, usage-based, flat-fee and custom pricing models, and prepaid credits, which suit software and AI products that charge per use.

A business defines its plans and prices in a price book, and Chargebee runs the bill cycles, creates invoices that follow local rules and calculates tax. It connects to more than 40 payment gateways (services that process card and bank payments), retries failed payments with machine-learning-based dunning (automatic retries and reminders), and recognizes revenue under the ASC 606 accounting standard. A hosted checkout, a drop-in checkout script and a customer portal handle sign-up and plan changes on the business's website; APIs and an MCP server give programs and AI assistants access.

Chargebee is a hosted service. The Flow plan has two options: no base fee and a percentage of the monthly invoicing volume, or a monthly base fee and a lower percentage. A free trial is offered.
