What Elementor is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Elementor is a page builder for WordPress, made by the company Elementor. It is a WordPress plugin that lets a person design web pages visually, by dragging elements onto the page, instead of writing HTML, CSS and PHP. WordPress is an open-source content management system: software that stores a site's pages and posts in a database and serves them to visitors.

In the Elementor editor a person places widgets such as headings, images, buttons and forms on a page and sets their styles, layout and motion effects. Elementor Pro adds the Theme Builder, which designs the site's header, footer and post templates, plus a Form Builder, a Popup Builder, Dynamic Content that fills designs from WordPress custom fields, custom code and CSS, and a builder for WooCommerce online stores. Newer AI features generate whole pages and sections from a text prompt. The company also sells hosting, domains and email delivery.

The core Elementor plugin is free and open source under the GPL-3.0 license. Elementor Pro is a paid plugin sold as a yearly subscription, priced by the number of sites, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
