Canva

A design tool that runs in the browser: a person without design training picks a template and edits it to make social media images, presentations, logos and videos.

What Canva is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Canva is an online graphic design and publishing tool made by the company Canva, launched in 2013. It runs in the browser, and a person without design training starts from a template and edits it to make social media posts, presentations, posters, videos, logos and printed items.

A design is built on a canvas from text, photos, shapes, video clips and audio. AI features include Magic Write for text, Magic Resize, which converts a design to the sizes that other channels need, a one-click background remover, and Magic Layers, which turns a flat image into an editable layout. A Brand Kit stores a company's colors, fonts and logos so that every design uses them. The same suite also covers documents, whiteboards, spreadsheets, websites and a Print Shop that turns designs into printed items.

Canva is a hosted service that is free to use with limits. The paid plans, Pro, Business and Enterprise, are subscriptions that add premium content, brand tools and more AI features; Pro has a free trial.
