Recall.ai sells an API for meeting recording, used by companies that build meeting-notes tools and AI agents. An API (application programming interface) is an interface that another program calls over the internet; here, one API covers many video-call platforms.
With the Meeting Bot API, a program asks Recall.ai to send a bot into a Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, GoTo Meeting or Slack Huddles call. The bot records video and audio and returns MP4 recordings, real-time or later transcripts, participant names, chat messages and screen-share data. Because it captures each person's audio separately, its transcripts are diarized (each sentence labelled with its speaker). A bot can also post chat messages, show images and play audio in the call, for example for an AI avatar. The Desktop Recording SDK records calls from a desktop app without a bot, and the Calendar API reads Google and Microsoft calendars for meeting times and participant emails. Data can stay in the US, EU or Japan.
It is a hosted service with usage-based pricing per hour of recording; the Calendar API is free.
