Setapp

A subscription marketplace for Mac and iOS apps: members pay one fee for a curated catalog, and Setapp shares the revenue with each app's developer by usage.

What Setapp is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Setapp is a subscription service for Mac and iOS apps, run by MacPaw Way Ltd. in Limassol, Cyprus. One membership gives access to a curated catalog of more than 300 Mac, iOS and web apps, including AI tools; each app is selected by Setapp before it enters the catalog. Users can also subscribe to a single app instead of the whole catalog.

Members install the Setapp app on a Mac and add the apps they need from the catalog, with free updates and no ads. For developers, Setapp is a distribution and billing channel: it handles app activation, licensing, billing, taxes including VAT, and customer support. Membership revenue is shared by how much members use each app: the developer receives 70%, Setapp keeps 10% and pays 20% to partners who bring in users. In the single-app marketplace, Setapp takes 15% of subscription sales and 25% of one-time sales.

Members pay a monthly or annual subscription; plans differ by the number of Macs and iOS devices and by AI credits, and new members get a 7-day free trial.
