Tinybird is a managed ClickHouse service with developer tooling, made by Tinybird. ClickHouse is an open-source column-oriented database built for analytical queries, such as counts and sums over very large numbers of events. Managed means that Tinybird runs the database servers, so the customer does not operate clusters.
Data arrives through the Events API over HTTP, through managed connections for Kafka, Amazon S3 and Google Cloud Storage, or from files. Developers define Data Sources (tables), Pipes (SQL transformations) and Materialized Views as code, in datafiles or with the TypeScript or Python SDK. They test locally with Tinybird Local or in isolated Cloud Branches and deploy through CI/CD. A Pipe can be published as an API Endpoint: a hosted HTTP address that runs the SQL with the request's parameters and returns the results, for example to a user-facing dashboard. Data can also be queried through the Query API, the ClickHouse interface or MCP.
Tinybird is a hosted service on shared or dedicated infrastructure. It has a free plan; paid plans are monthly subscriptions sized by compute (vCPUs), with storage and extra compute billed by use.
