Vercel Web Analytics is a web analytics service built into the Vercel hosting platform, made by Vercel Inc.; the address vercel.com/analytics leads to it as part of Vercel Observability. Web analytics counts the visitors of a website, the pages they view and where they come from.
A team enables it for a project, and the project dashboard then shows unique visitors, page views, bounce rate, top pages, referrers, and the country, operating system, device and browser of visitors. Instead of cookies, Vercel identifies a visitor by a hash computed from the incoming request; the hash resets every day, so a visitor cannot be followed across days or across websites, and only anonymized data is stored. The data is sent through the site's own domain, which avoids ad blockers. Pro teams can record custom events with the track() function of the @vercel/analytics package, and the Web Analytics Plus add-on adds UTM parameters and a longer reporting window.
Pricing is by the number of collected events (page views and custom events): the Hobby plan includes a free monthly allowance, and Pro teams pay per thousand events.
