Xano

A hosted backend platform where an app's database, APIs and server logic are built in a visual editor, in code or by an AI agent, and run without managing servers.

What Xano is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Xano is a backend-as-a-service platform: it hosts the backend of an application, meaning the database, the APIs (addresses that the app's frontend calls over the internet) and the business logic, so the team does not manage servers. It runs on Postgres, Redis, Docker and Kubernetes.

A backend can be built in three ways, and each one shows what the others made: in a visual editor where logic is assembled as a Function Stack on a canvas, in XanoScript code with a CLI and an IDE, or by an AI agent. The built-in Xano Agent takes a request for tables, APIs and login rules, writes the XanoScript and shows a plan for review; outside agents such as Claude Code and Cursor connect through the Xano MCP server. Xano generates REST APIs with OpenAPI documentation and can also build MCP servers and AI agents. Releases are versioned deploy objects with rollback, and request history and tracing show where a failure happened.

Xano is a hosted service with a free plan for development and testing and monthly or yearly paid plans; Enterprise customers can self-host.
