Flippa is an online marketplace where owners sell online businesses and digital assets: ecommerce stores, blogs, SaaS companies, mobile apps, social media accounts, newsletters and domains. It is run by Flippa.com Pty Ltd, was founded in 2009, and has offices in Melbourne, Austin and Amsterdam.
A seller lists the business with an asking price, and buyers search the listings and negotiate. Flippa's AI assistant, BrokerAI, estimates a valuation range from real transaction data and market demand, builds a profit and loss statement from connected financial accounts, drafts a CIM (confidential information memorandum, the sales document that describes a business) and matches the listing with buyers. A deal room and a data room hold the negotiation and the documents. The purchase money moves through FlippaPay or Escrow.com; an escrow service is a third party that holds the money until the assets change hands. Sellers can also work with Flippa's human brokers.
Sellers pay for a listing package and a success fee, a percentage of the sale price that is due only when the business sells. Buyers can use the site for free, with an optional Premium subscription.
