tawk.to

A free customer-messaging service: one JavaScript snippet adds a chat widget to a website, and the team answers chats, tickets and help-center questions from one inbox.

What tawk.to is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

tawk.to is a customer-messaging platform that puts live chat, ticketing, a knowledge base (a help center of articles that customers search themselves) and a simple CRM (customer relationship management: a record of each contact and their history) in one shared inbox. The company says it trades from Las Vegas, Nevada, with a team spread over several countries.

A business pastes a JavaScript snippet into its pages, or installs it in one click on Shopify, WordPress, Wix and other platforms, and a chat widget appears on every page. Agents answer in the web dashboard or in apps for iOS, Android, macOS and Windows. Triggers can open a chat based on the page address, the visitor's behaviour or the referrer, and chats can be translated into more than 50 languages. The knowledge base runs on the business's own domain. A JavaScript API lets a web app control the widget from its own code.

The software itself is free, with no limit on agents or chats. The company earns money from optional paid add-ons (AI Assist, Whitelabel, Voice Agents, Data Enrichment) and from Hired Agents, human chat agents paid by the hour.
