Bento is an email marketing platform made by Backpack Internet Pty. Ltd., an independent company founded in 2018 by Jesse Hanley, with offices in Sydney and Japan. It sends three kinds of email from one account: campaigns (one message to many subscribers), automations (sequences that start on an event such as a sign-up) and transactional email (single messages such as receipts and password resets).
Bento focuses on deliverability, the share of emails that reach the inbox instead of the spam folder. Before a send it checks for broken links, missing first names and spam-like phrases. It can send a large campaign in smaller batches at a set pace, so that a list warms up slowly, and its logs show for each email whether it was delivered, bounced or deferred. Bento publishes its live delivery rates by mailbox provider. Developers connect it through an API, SDKs and an SMTP relay, and it integrates with Shopify, WooCommerce, Stripe, WordPress and Zapier.
Bento is a hosted service sold as a monthly subscription priced by the number of active users.
