Customer.io is a customer engagement platform made by Peaberry Software, Inc. It sends automated messages, such as email, push notifications, in-app and web messages, SMS and webhooks, and each message is driven by the profile and event data that a business sends about its users. An event is a record of something a person did, such as signing up or making a purchase.
Data comes in from several sources: a JavaScript client snippet placed on a website, mobile SDKs for iOS, Android and other platforms, REST APIs, server libraries and data warehouses. Segments group people by these data. Journeys, built in a visual workflow builder, are automated campaigns with triggers, timing and logic that decide which message each person gets and when. The platform also sends transactional emails and includes a drag-and-drop message editor, analytics and an AI agent that builds automations from a written request.
Customer.io is a hosted service sold as a subscription, priced by the number of profiles (people and objects) and emails, with a 14-day free trial.
