Basecamp is project-management software made by 37signals, the company of co-founder and CEO Jason Fried. Each project gets its own page, and the team adds the tools that the project needs and invites co-workers, clients or AI agents.
The tools include Message Boards for announcements and discussions (they replace email threads), To-do Lists with assignees, due dates and subtasks, Card Tables (a kanban board, where cards move through columns that stand for stages of work), Campfire chat, a calendar, and Docs & Files for shared documents. Automatic Check-ins ask the team a recurring question, such as what each person works on this week, and collect the answers. Hill Charts and Reports show how far each project has progressed. A client mode controls what clients can see, and an API, a command-line tool (CLI) and AI connectors with MCP support link Basecamp to other programs.
Basecamp is a hosted service with a free plan for one project and three users. Paid packages are a fixed monthly subscription with no fee per user.
