HEY

A paid email and calendar service from 37signals that sorts incoming mail by sender and lets a person or company refuse mail from unknown senders.

What HEY is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

HEY is an email and calendar service made by 37signals, the company behind Basecamp. It replaces a mailbox such as Gmail or Outlook with its own apps for the web, Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android.

The first email from a new sender goes to The Screener, where the user accepts or rejects that sender; rejected senders are not shown again. Accepted mail is sorted into three places: the Imbox for important mail, The Feed for newsletters, shown as a scrollable page with every message already open, and the Paper Trail for receipts and order confirmations. HEY blocks spy pixels (tiny hidden images that report when a message was opened) and includes a calendar and 100GB of storage. HEY for Domains adds sending from a company's own domain, several users, shared threads, private team comments and aliases such as support@ that reach several people.

HEY is a subscription service with no advertising: a personal plan with a @hey.com address billed once a year, and a per-user monthly plan for custom domains.
