Microsoft PowerPoint

Microsoft's presentation program: a user builds a deck of slides with text, images, shapes and video, and presents or shares it.

What Microsoft PowerPoint is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Microsoft PowerPoint is a presentation application from Microsoft, part of Microsoft 365. A presentation is a deck of slides; each slide holds text, images, shapes, charts or video, and the presenter shows the slides one after another. PowerPoint runs as desktop apps on PCs and Macs, on phones and tablets, and in the browser as PowerPoint for the web.

A user starts from a blank deck or from one of thousands of customizable templates. Ink tools convert handwriting or drawings on a slide into text or shapes, and the Cameo feature adds a recorded video of the presenter to the slides. Copilot, Microsoft's AI assistant, takes a request in plain language and rewrites, reorganizes or adds slides; the user reviews the changes. Speaker Coach listens to a rehearsal and gives feedback on pace and vocabulary, and Accessibility Assistant suggests changes to format, color and wording. Several people can edit the same deck in real time and tag each other in comments.

PowerPoint for the web is free with a Microsoft account. The desktop apps and Copilot come with Microsoft 365 subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly.
