Stripe Climate

A Stripe feature that lets a business send a share of its revenue, or buy a set number of tons, to fund permanent carbon removal projects.

What Stripe Climate is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Stripe Climate is a Stripe product that lets a business pay for carbon removal: methods that take carbon dioxide (CO2) out of the atmosphere and store it permanently, such as direct air capture. All purchases go through Frontier, an advance market commitment to buy an initial US$1 billion or more of permanent carbon removal by 2030. Such a commitment is a promise to buy a product that is still expensive, so that its makers can grow and cut costs.

With Climate Commitments, a business sets a percentage of its revenue in the Stripe Dashboard or with the Stripe command-line tool, and Stripe directs the money to early-stage carbon removal projects chosen with scientific expert reviewers; some of these projects may fail. With Climate Orders, a business pre-orders a specific number of tons through the Dashboard or the API, which suits a company with a climate target or one that offers carbon removal to its own customers. A business can show a Climate badge on Stripe Checkout, invoices and receipts, and publish a Stripe-hosted climate page.

The business sets the amount itself, so there is no fixed price.
