Zoom is a communication platform made by Zoom Communications, Inc. Its best-known product, Zoom Meetings, is video conferencing software: people join a meeting from the Zoom app on a computer or phone, or from a web browser, and see and hear each other in real time. The wider Zoom Workplace suite adds chat, phone, mail and calendar, scheduling, whiteboards and short video clips.
Zoom Meetings offers HD audio and video with noise suppression, shared documents and whiteboards, captions with translation, and chat that continues before and after a meeting. Zoom AI, included at no extra cost, writes meeting summaries and next steps. Zoom Webinars is a separate product for one-to-many events: the host builds a registration page, presenters wait in a private virtual backstage, and attendees take part through chat, reactions, polls and Q&A; recordings and performance reports follow. Higher plans add multi-session virtual and hybrid events. Developers can embed Zoom video in their own products with the Video SDK and Meeting SDK.
Zoom is a hosted service with a free Basic plan and paid subscriptions per user per month; webinar plans are priced by the number of attendees.
